How Circus Day Works

Professional circus instructors guide your teachers and parent volunteers through every step. All you need is enthusiasm and a school full of excited kids.

We Bring Everything & Set Up

Cirque Amongus arrives with all circus equipment, costumes, makeup, sound system, and props. Your school provides the gym or field and the parent volunteers. Our online coordination tools make planning effortless.

Volunteer Orientation

Parent volunteers and teachers gather for a high-energy orientation where they watch demonstrations of all 10 circus skills, then pick their role: group leader (guiding kids between stations) or skill instructor (teaching one specific skill). Instructors get hands-on training at their chosen station. For larger schools, this happens the evening before. Smaller schools (200 students or fewer) can do it all the morning of Circus Day. Either way — no experience necessary, and everyone leaves fired up and ready.

Morning: Students Learn 10 Circus Skills

Students rotate through 10 stations in small multi-age groups, spending about 10 minutes at each. Juggling, tightwire, trapeze, unicycling, acrobatics, plate spinning, diabolo, stilt walking, magic, and clowning.

Afternoon: Rehearse & Build Acts

Each student picks their favorite skill and joins a performance group. They create a 3-minute act, rehearse together, put on costumes, and transform into real circus performers.

The Live Circus Show

Family and friends pack the gym for an hour-long performance. Student ringmasters, colorful costumes, real circus skills performed with pride. Programs printed with photos from the day make lasting keepsakes.

Why 1,200+ Schools Choose Circus Day

More than a fun day — Circus Day builds social-emotional skills, physical literacy, and community bonds that last a lifetime.

Self-Confidence & Resilience

Students accomplish things they never thought possible — walking a tightwire, juggling three balls — building genuine confidence through real achievement.

Teamwork & Collaboration

Multi-age groups collaborate to create performances bigger than any individual. New friendships form across grade levels and social circles.

Community Building

Teachers, parents, and students work side by side. Parent volunteers become circus instructors for a day. The whole school creates something together.

Motor Skills & Physical Literacy

Juggling, balancing, and acrobatics develop coordination, rhythm, bilateral integration, patience, and concentration in a joyful, non-competitive setting.

100% Student Participation

No tryouts. No bench. Every student performs — kindergarteners through 8th grade. Individual adjustments ensure all abilities and needs are included.

Creative Problem Solving

Students choreograph their own acts, discovering that challenges are fun puzzles and that creativity has no limits — core STEAM mindsets.

Every school, every program — a completely unique experience created by the students themselves.

What Schools Say

"The students still talk about it. Teachers say it was the best school event they've ever been part of. Parents who volunteered can't wait to do it again."

Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about bringing Circus Day to your school.

Circus Day at School is a full-day education enrichment program by Cirque Amongus where every student in a school learns 10 real circus skills — juggling, trapeze, tightwire, unicycling, acrobatics, plate spinning, diabolo, stilt walking, magic, and clowning — then performs in a live circus show for family and friends. Professional instructors provide all equipment and guide parent volunteers and teachers through every step. The program has been running since 2000 and has served over 1,200 schools and 300,000 students nationwide.
Circus Day is designed for K-8 students of all ages and abilities. Students work in small multi-age groups (mixing grade levels intentionally), and every skill station has adjustments for different developmental levels. From kindergarteners learning to toss scarves to 8th graders mastering three-ball juggling cascades, every student participates fully and performs in the show.
About 22 volunteers per 100 students — so a school of 300 needs around 66 volunteers. Volunteers attend a fun orientation session (evening before for larger schools, or morning-of for schools of 200 or fewer) where they watch demonstrations of all 10 circus skills, then choose their role: group leader (shepherding kids between stations) or skill instructor (teaching one specific circus skill all day). Instructors get hands-on training at their chosen station. No prior circus experience needed — professional Cirque Amongus instructors are present all day guiding everyone. Schools report that recruiting is easy because parents genuinely want to be part of it.
Absolutely. Safety is designed into every aspect of Circus Day. Professional instructors set up all equipment to exacting standards. Each station uses age-appropriate progressions — students are never asked to do anything beyond their ability. Volunteer training covers proper spotting techniques and safety protocols. In over 1,200 programs and 300,000+ students served since 2000, Cirque Amongus maintains an excellent safety record. All equipment is commercially rated and inspected before every event.
For larger schools, orientation happens the evening before (about 2 hours, typically 6-8 PM), then Circus Day runs the full school day (8:30 AM to 3:00 PM). Smaller schools (200 students or fewer) can do orientation the morning of, making it a single-day event. The afternoon show for families usually begins around 1:30 PM and lasts about an hour. Cirque Amongus handles all setup and teardown.
Circus Day uses your school's existing spaces: a gym or multipurpose room for the main stations and show, plus classrooms or outdoor areas for additional stations. A standard gymnasium accommodates most setups. You'll also need access to your PA/sound system area and a space for costume changes. Cirque Amongus conducts a planning call to map out your specific facility.
Cirque Amongus brings Circus Day to schools across the United States, with primary service areas in the Midwest, Northeast, and Southeast. The program travels to your school — all equipment, costumes, props, and sound systems are transported by the Cirque Amongus team. Contact us to check availability and scheduling in your region.
